With extensive experience spanning higher education and compliance, Tami was most recently the Director of Export Controls at Penn State University. Serving as the designated Empowered Official, Tami oversaw compliance with international trade regulations including ITAR, EAR, OFAC, and DOE requirements. She managed a team responsible for licensing, international activities, and DD2345 certifications, ensuring comprehensive adherence to export control protocols.


Previously, Tami held roles such as Senior Export Control Analyst at UC San Diego and Director of Export Compliance and Research Security at Clemson University. Her tenure at Clemson University saw her establish and oversee a university-wide export compliance program while managing industrial security initiatives and addressing malign foreign influence concerns.


Tami’s career began at Michigan State University as an Export Control Officer, where she developed compliance processes and conducted training seminars in collaboration with federal agencies. Her diverse background also includes managing technology licensing at Michigan State and conducting research in human cancer genetics at The Ohio State University.

Tami holds a Juris Doctor from The Ohio State University Moritz College of Law with a concentration in Intellectual Property Law and is licensed to practice in New York State. She earned a Master of Science in Biology from Eastern Michigan University and holds Bachelor’s degrees in Biology and English Literature.


Active in her field, Tami contributes expertise in export compliance, technology licensing, and research administration, demonstrating a robust commitment to regulatory compliance and academic research integrity.
